Hi
I’ve got an HP 15-bs542tu laptop from back in 2017 . The current wifi chips is Realtek RTL8723DE . It doesn’t support 5ghz wifi afaik. I’ve tried looking for my WiFi signal but I couldn’t find it . I was hoping if someone could help me in finding an upgrade if possible for the old chip. Which is the best chip right now in 2024 that supports my laptop ?
Thanks in advance

Hi:
Since your notebook has a Realtek RTL8723DE Wi-Fi adapter, that is only a single band adapter that works on the 2.4 GHZ Wi-Fi band.
The problem is that there is only one Wi-Fi antenna wire connected to that card, and unless you want to order the dual antenna wire kit listed in chapter 3 of the service manual and completely disassemble the notebook including the display panel to run the dual antenna kit, you are limited to installing this dual band card which works with one antenna wire:
Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.
