Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-e0000 (2V8Z9AV)

I am experiencing an issue with the Wi-Fi on my HP Victus 16-e0650AX laptop (Serial: 5CD2346K1C). The laptop detects both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks. It connects normally to 2.4 GHz, but it fails to connect to 5 GHz networks even when the correct password is entered.

Details of the issue:

  • 2.4 GHz networks connect without any problem.

  • 5 GHz networks are visible but do not connect (no wrong password error, it just fails to establish connection).

  • The same 5 GHz Wi-Fi works fine with other devices (phones and other laptops).

  • The router supports 5 GHz and WPA2 security.

  • I tested this on both Windows 11 and Linux (Ubuntu), and the issue is the same.

  • I have restarted the laptop, re-inserted the Wi-Fi card, and updated drivers, but the issue persists.

Laptop Details:

  • Model: HP Victus 16-e0650AX

  • Serial Number: 5CD2346K1C

  • OS Tested: Windows 11 & Linux (Ubuntu)

Could you please assist me in resolving this issue? Kindly let me know if this is related to drivers, compatibility, or if hardware replacement is required.

Try updating the driver to the latest version HP currently has.

6001.10.356.3

sp161604.exe

If that doesn't work, most likely the 5.0 GHz radio on the card is defective, so the card would need to be replaced.

Unfortunately, the service manual only indicates that the following cards/part numbers were offered in the model series.

Maintenance and Service Guide

  • Realtek Wi-Fi 6 RTL8852AE + Bluetooth 5.2 part #  M34027-006
  • Realtek Wi-Fi 6 RTL8852AE-VT + Bluetooth 5.2 part #   M34029-006

My HP notebook that has an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U processor came from the factory with the Intel AX200 non-vPro wireless adapter having this part number:

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro   HP part # L35282-005.

You may want to experiment with the Intel card and see if it works on yours.

If it works you should be very happy with it and the card has driver support for Linux.
