I have recently bought an Elitebook 820 G3, which has a built-in SIM card slot. I've successfully inserted the Virgin Micro SIM from my mobile phone, but it doesn't work. I took the advice of this forum to download the mobile broadband drivers, which was sp74017.exe, but when I tried to install it I got messages to say it was already installed, so I cancelled the install.
I've searched in the list of available wireless sources, but it is not listed.
I know it works as a broadband device, as I also have a T-Mobile 3G dongle. I've put the SIM card in this and it works fine. I was hoping, however, to avoid having to use one of the two USB ports for the dongle and to make my laptop a little more streamlined by using the built-in SIM card slot instead.
How can I activate this siim card?

Hi:
Most likely your notebook does not have the required WWAN card to work with the SIM card.
That is what sp74017 would install the drivers to.
That is an expensive option.
Check the service manual for the location of the WWAN card and see if one is present.
If not, see if the antennas to install the optional card are present, and if you want to spend the money, order the supported WWAN card and install it.
