Pavilion dv2000
Microsoft Windows XP (64-bit)
Hi,

My wireless internet stopped working for this device. (HP Pavilion dv2000). It has a toggle switch. It will not turn blue, stuck on amber/orange. Cannot seem to find any wireless network. Tried the setup wizard and wireless assistant with no luck.

If I plug in an an Ethernet cable I have internet access. Other devices are working wirelessly no problem.
This device will not connect at home or my friend's place anymore.
Tried installing drivers from hp website.
Using a Linksys router - everything was fine last week.

Please help!

Hi, @craigMc :

If your model dv2000 has an AMD processor with the nVidia chipset and graphics, most likely the motherboard has a problem.

A common issue with the dv2000, dv6000 and dv9000 notebooks with the AMD processors and nVidia chipsets, was that over time, the heat generated by the notebook causes the power to get cut to the slot that the wireless card is plugged into.  Other things may go out too (at various points), such as the audio, DVD drive, and finally the graphics.

There is no fix other than to replace the motherboard.

If you plan on keeping the notebook, I recommend you purchase an external USB wireless network adapter.

Hi GBL84,
The switch is turned on, and i will check that pdf.

Paul,
Thanks - your explanation sounds likely as this laptop run extremely hot. That is unfortunate, perhaps time for a new one or as you said, a USB adapter.
Thanks.
