HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-cx0500nd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Since a few weeks I have a new HP Laptop. Completely happy. Except for an important detail. The wifi does not work. To connect, I have to turn my WiFi device off and then turn it on again. This applies to every 10 minutes ...
I have already done the following:
Driver removed, reinstalled, the update installed, all windows updates done, the new bios installed, the RSC disabled via the command prompt ...

I really can not think of a solution ... I even bought a new router ... * sob *
I also feel huge, just a new laptop, but the old HP Elitebook works better. Incidentally, all the equipment works fine on the same Wi-Fi signal. It is a Realtek ticket: RTL8822BE

@SavNick,

Good Day. A warm welcome to the HP community. I reviewed the case. I will be delighted to assist you. Great diagnosis and excellent description of the issue, Kudos to you for that.

  • Did it occur after a recent power outage or surge?
  • Did it occur after a recent software or windows update?
  • Do other devices on the same network, connect to the router and go online correctly?

Let's, try these steps:

  • First, check if the computer connects using a hardwired Ethernet cable on a wired connection.
  • If it does please perform these steps:

  • Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand Network adapters>then select the network drivers that are listed and right-click on it and uninstall the drivers.
  • Check the box that says delete the software for this device.
  • Then restart the computer and update the bios and wireless network drivers from this link: http://hp.com/drivers  and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Now check for issue resolution.

If the issue continues, then perform these steps:

It may also help to reset the winsock catalogue:
1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.
3. In the window that opens type "
netsh winsock reset" without quotes, and press enter.
4. Restart your PC and test.

Now check if the issue gets fixed. If the problem continues, then perform all the prescribed steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04649175 (HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 10)

If there are no hardware issues with the wireless card this should fix the issue. If it still continues, then perform a reset of Windows 10 from this link:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04742289  after backing up your important data.

This should do the trick for you if the wireless card is not faulty.

If the issue continues, then the wireless card is faulty. A great workaround would be is to buy a USB wireless dongle from Best Buy or Staples or from Amazon or e-bay and plug it to one of the USB ports of the computer. Then connect it to the router to go online. It is very economical and cost-effective and can be ordered for a song.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂

Hi there,

Thank you for the advise. I was a bit conserned about the poor wifi function so I used my 30 day trail service and brought the laptop back to be shure the hardware (WLan card) wasnt broken. I got a complete new laptop today. And gues what. At first everything worked, but after a few minutes I just installed all the updates, and thats where the problem started.

Then I used the returnpoint (dont know the correct English term) in Windows and got back to the point before the installation of the updates.

This is te list of updates its trying to install:

Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Bluetooth - 5/31/2018 12:00:00 AM - 1.5.1012.3

NVIDIA - Display - 6/24/2018 12:00:00 AM - 24.21.13.9836

Realtek Semiconductor Corp. - Net - 2/24/2018 12:00:00 AM - 2023.66.1104.2017

2018-05 Update voor Windows 10 Version 1709 voor op x64 gebaseerde systemen (KB4134661)

HP - HIDClass - 2/1/2018 12:00:00 AM - 2.1.3.1

- Its Dutch by the way but the updatenumbers are the same, I checked -

Further I tryed the sollutions you sugested, (SORRY FOR THE CAPS)

  • Did it occur after a recent power outage or surge? NOT THAT I KNOW OF
  • Did it occur after a recent software or windows update? YES, I THINK SO...
  • Do other devices on the same network, connect to the router and go online correctly? YES EVERYTHING WORKS FINE AT ALL THE OTHER DIVECES.

Let's, try these steps:

  • First, check if the computer connects using a hardwired Ethernet cable on a wired connection. THAT WORKS PERFECTLY FINE, VERY QUICK. MAKES ME WONDER WY I WANT TO USE MY WIFI SINGNAL 😉 KIDDING.

TRIED THIS ONE, BUT NO RESULTS.

If the issue continues, then perform these steps:

It may also help to reset the winsock catalogue:I DIT NOT TRY THIS ONE, COULD I TRY IT IN ADVANCE AFTER DOING THE UPDATES?

Now check if the issue gets fixed. If the problem continues, then perform all the prescribed steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04649175 (HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 10) I TRIED THIS ONE, NO RESULTS...

If there are no hardware issues with the wireless card this should fix the issue. If it still continues, then perform a reset of Windows 10 from this link:  https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04742289  after backing up your important data.

This should do the trick for you if the wireless card is not faulty. I DID, BEFORE SENDING IT BACK, I EVEN ORDERED A WHOLE NEW LAPTOP WHAHA.

I DONT THINK ITS THE HARDWARE...

AND AFTER THE LAST REACTION I FOUND OUT THAT THE CAPITAL WASNT nececery because of the rich test with coulours...

@SavNick,

Thanks for the update. I am glad that it works now with the new notebook. It is great to hear from you.

So try to check which update causes this and prevent that specific update and things should work fine.

Take care and have a great week ahead.

Ok, sometimes strange things are hapening in life...

I  tried to block some updates first in the lazy way. I just did not rebooted the laptop for over one week (not very good for the system, I know).

Then i followed some steps online and it is working for me!

In the networkoptions I switched off the TCP ipv6 and i switched of the possibility to let the powermanagement system switch off my WLAN card.

At that point the problem was solved, so I rebooted my system, installed the updates and.... the Wifi is still workin!!!!

Fingers crossed...

Thank you for the help!
