HP Pavilion x360 14 Convertible PC 14-dy1000 (436S6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I bought a new HP Pavilion x360 convertible in April 2022, which is still under warrantee. It was bought through employee purchase plan as I work at Intel. A couple of weeks back, its WiFi stopped working. I did a hardware diagnostic and tried driver updates and other things. It didn't work. Then I contacted HP customer care. They also performed the same HW diagnostic and after it passed, the agent referred me to "smart friend" which is a service that costs $35 to start and $15 per month! They told me the warrantee is only for hardware (which HP probably does not make!). Now guess what - this would mean OEMs like HP can always introduce something due to which products would stop operations and they would force customers to buy smart friend services. This is not a smart service rather an extortion service to keep minting money over the sold items. This has to be raised to the consumer platforms.  Planning to do it soon.
