We're currently experiencing issues with the Bluetooth driver on our HP laptops, the Bluetooth driver seems to disabled and re-enable itself constantly.  This is of course causing the users headsets, keyboards and mice to disconnect which is quite a nuisance.

This is an issue that started appearing within this week, and perhaps the end of last week. Is anyone else experiencing this issue and have you perhaps found the root cause or a workaround?

Troubleshooting:

Looked for updates via HPIA

Looked for updates via HP Support Assistant
Removed the current driver via Device Manager, installed the recommend driver via Intels support page.

Checked recent Windows updates, nothing seemed relevant.

Models affected so far:
HP Elitebook 840/30 G11

HP Elitebook 840/30 G10

HP Elitebook 8 G1i

Hi @AndreasBEO

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

The recurring Bluetooth disconnect/reconnect issue on HP EliteBook G10/G11 models is currently linked to unstable driver behavior (Realtek/MediaTek adapters) and Windows power management conflicts. The most effective workaround reported is disabling Bluetooth adapter power‑saving features and reinstalling back to a stable driver version.

Disable Power Management

  • Open Device Manager → Bluetooth → Right‑click your adapter → Properties.
  • Under Power Management, uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.”
  • This prevents Windows from suspending the Bluetooth card, which is a common cause of Code 43 and random disconnects.

Uninstall Driver

If you installed the latest Intel/Realtek/MediaTek driver.

  • Go to device manager.
  • Right Click on Bluetooth driver.
  • Uninstall the driver and restart the unit.

Perform Hard Reset

  • Shut down the laptop, unplug AC power, remove accessories.
  • Hold the Power button for 30–45 seconds to discharge capacitors.
  • Restart — this clears residual states that can corrupt Bluetooth initialization.

Use Bluetooth Troubleshooter

  • Windows has a built-in tool to detect and fix Bluetooth issues.
  • Go to Settings → Update & Security → Troubleshoot → Bluetooth
  • Run the troubleshooter
  • Follow on-screen instructions
  • Apply suggested fixes

Take care and have an amazing day!
