Hi @Ryu11

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Your PS3 controller may appear “working properly” in Device Manager, but Windows doesn’t natively support it over USB or Bluetooth without third-party drivers. To restore full functionality, you’ll need to install a compatible driver like SCP Toolkit or configure it through Steam.

Let’s walk through the most reliable steps to get your PS3 controller working again:

Step-by-Step Fix for PS3 Controller on Windows 11

1. Uninstall Conflicting Drivers

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand Human Interface Devices and Bluetooth.
  • Right-click any “Wireless Controller” entries and select Uninstall device.
  • Check “Delete the driver software for this device” if available.
  • Reboot your laptop.

This clears any corrupted or incompatible drivers that may be blocking proper function.

2. Install SCP Toolkit (for USB and Bluetooth Support)

SCP Toolkit is a trusted open-source driver package that enables PS3 controller support on Windows.

  • Download from: SCP Toolkit GitHub Mirror
  • Run the installer and select:
    • Install DualShock 3 driver
    • Install Bluetooth driver (only if using Bluetooth)
  • Connect your PS3 controller via USB during installation.
  • After setup, test the controller in Control Panel > Devices and Printers or with a game.

Note: SCP Toolkit works best with older Bluetooth chipsets. If Bluetooth fails, USB is more reliable.

3. Use Steam’s Built-In Controller Support (Optional)

If you use Steam:

  • Open Steam > Settings > Controller > General Controller Settings.
  • Enable PlayStation Configuration Support.
  • Connect your PS3 controller via USB.
  • Steam will map it as a generic gamepad for supported games.

4. Avoid DS4Windows or InputMapper for PS3

These tools are designed for PS4 controllers and may not fully support PS3 hardware.

You're doing everything right by checking Device Manager—now we just need to bridge the driver gap.
