For some reason, my Bluetooth has been disappearing for the past week. I've tried restarting my laptop, shutting it down, updating drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, doing a diagnostic, and checking BIOS. However, I keep getting code 45 for everything in device manager, my Bluetooth is still hidden in the device manager, and when I try to turn on automatic in the services application for the Bluetooth User Service, it just gives me the "parameter is incorrect". I'm really lost since I thought I fixed it after checking the BIOS and I really need my Bluetooth.

Hi @KenKandy

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand how frustrating it can be when the Bluetooth option keeps disappearing from your HP Pavillion. Let's go through a few steps that can help Windows re-detect the Bluetooth hardware and restore functionality. I would request you to please follow the steps:

Show Hidden Devices in Device Manager

  • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
  • Click View > Show hidden devices.
  • Check whether:
  • A Bluetooth category appears.
  • Any Bluetooth device is shown as greyed out.

If you find greyed-out Bluetooth devices:

  • Right-click each Bluetooth entry.
  • Select Uninstall device.
  • Restart the notebook.

Perform a Hardware Reset

A hardware reset can help clear temporary hardware communication issues.

  • Shut down the notebook completely.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter.
  • If the battery is removable, remove it.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power adapter.
  • Turn the notebook back on and check whether Bluetooth has returned.

Restore BIOS Defaults

  • Turn off the notebook.
  • Power it on and immediately press F10 repeatedly to enter the BIOS.
  • Press F9 to load BIOS defaults.
  • Select Yes to confirm.
  • Press F10 to save and exit.
  • After Windows loads, check Device Manager again.

Scan for Hardware Changes

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Click the computer name at the top of the device list.
  • Select Action > Scan for hardware changes.
  • Wait for Windows to search for hardware and check if the Bluetooth device reappears.

Reinstall the Wireless Driver

  • Go To device manager
  • Click on Bluetooth driver
  • Right click the driver and uninstall.
  • Restart the driver.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hi Pallipurath,

I've already followed these instructions before, and it only fixed it temporarily the first time. The main issue is that the Bluetooth keeps disappearing even after all of those steps or not even showing up at all when I reopen my notebook. Is there anything else I can do? Maybe to ensure that the Bluetooth stays connected? And what about code 45 or the inability to change my Bluetooth User Service settings to automatic because the "parameter is incorrect"? Also, I've noticed that in Universal Serial Bus Controllers, an unknown USB keeps failing. Is that correlated to the Bluetooth?
