Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have a generic bluetooth keyboard which has been working fine until I did a reinstall of Windows 10 on the tablet. I downloaded the latest Bluetooth driver and although the tablet says the keyboard is paired and connected there is no response. I have tried several uninstalls and reinstalls to no avail. Can anyone throw any light on this please?

Hello KrazyToad, long time no ........speak?....see?......type?

Anyway, I've been otherwise occupied for a while, but here I am and you'll be pleased to know that the tablet and the keyboard are now talking to each other. I ascertained that the keyboard was working OK, so I re-installed Bluetooth drivers on the tablet - still no joy, so after much swearing and head scratching I turned my attention to other things, and lo and behold I found the solution quite accidentally.

In the normal run of things, when you are trying to pair the tablet and the keyboard you are given an eight digit code to punch in which should then ensure the two pieces of kit speak to each other; this wasn't happening BUT if you do this three times in a row then a new request appears, asking for the PIN code of the keyboard, and - you guessed it - there isn't one. IF YOU ENTER ANY FOUR DIGITS, ENTER CONNECT, THEN PUNCH THE SAME FOUR DIGITS ON THE KEYBOARD AND HIT RETURN, IT CONNECTS. Who would have thought it? That was the solution on a Microsoft forum which, as I said, I came across accidentally.

I'd like to thank you for your assistance in this weird problem, and more power to your elbow.

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

Hello KrazyToad and thanks for your reply. I've now tried that and unfortunately there is no change. The annoying thing is that when I uninstall the keyboard then reinstall it the tablet asks for a code to be punched in ON THE KEYBOARD - which it will do, and the the system tells me it is paired and connected, so lo and behold, hit a key (any key) and get..................you guessed it. This is so frustrating I'm considering using the tablet as a discus.

Kind regards,

Rick

Do you have problems pairing other Bluetooth devices to this Notebook?

Have you tried pairing this Bluetooth to another computer?

Keep me posted

Apologies for the delay KrazyToad.

Unfortunately I've no other Bluetooth devices hanging around - no-one close by either.

It's the pairing acceptance status followed by no operation that's really getting to me - especially after half a dozen uninstall/reinstalls and punching in the code on the keyboard each time. SUCCESSFULLY!

Must have killed a robin.

Rick.
