HP Beats 15 Notebook PC product# - J1J05UA#ABA
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I just purchased an HP Beats 15 Notebook Special Edition in mint condition and even though it states that it has Bluetooth I cannot get my Bluetooth headphones to come up when searching for "New Device". I've read that this is how you have to connect a bluetooth device with this PC however I am unsure if this is for to it running Windows 8.1 (64bit) or if it's the PC itself. I am unfamiliar with Windows 8 if any version as I usually use Windows 10 and will be upgrading this PC to Windows 10 in the very near future however I'd like to be able to use my Bluetooth headphones whole streaming Netflix, Prime etc. Can someone please help me? I've ran diagnostics and all the tests, including driver tests come back good with no issues.

Hi:

According to the parts list for your notebook, it comes with a Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11bgn Wi-Fi adapter.

That model wifi adapter is not a combination wifi/bluetooth adapter, which means your notebook does not have any Bluetooth hardware installed.

You have two options...

Install an external USB bluetooth adapter.

Remove and replace the internal Realtek wifi adapter with a combination wifi bluetooth adapter.

If you open up the notebook and let me know how many wifi antenna cables are connected to the Realtek wifi card in there now, I will give you your options for an internal wifi card upgrade.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure.
