When starting up, the Bluetooth will not always turn on. If it does not turn on, the Bluetooth Off/On toggle disappears. My only fix is to continue to restart until it appears and turns on. Please help.

Thanks.

Hi @JDup43

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like a frustrating issue, but let’s work through it together! Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem with your Bluetooth toggle disappearing:

Step 1: Check Device Manager

  1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Bluetooth section. If you don’t see it, click View > Show Hidden Devices.
  3. Look for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark or labeled as "Unknown Device."
  4. If found, right-click the device and select Update Driver or Uninstall Device (then restart your laptop to reinstall it automatically).

Step 2: Run the Bluetooth Troubleshooter

  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  2. Select Bluetooth under "Find and fix other problems."
  3. Click Run the troubleshooter and follow the on-screen instructions.

Step 3: Update Drivers

  1. Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your wireless adapter and Bluetooth module.
  2. Install the updated drivers and restart your laptop.

Step 4: Reset Bluetooth Settings

  1. Open Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
  2. Turn off Bluetooth (if the toggle is visible) and then turn it back on.
  3. Remove any paired devices that you no longer use, as they might interfere with the connection.

Step 5: Check BIOS/UEFI Settings

  1. Restart your laptop and press F10 (or the appropriate key) to enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
  2. Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled in the BIOS settings.
  3. Save changes and exit.

Step 6: Perform a Component Test

  1. Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly to access the Startup Menu.
  2. Select F2 - System Diagnostics.
  3. Run the Bluetooth Module Test to check for hardware issues.

Step 7: Reset Network Settings

  1. Open Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
  2. Scroll down and click Network reset.
  3. Restart your laptop after the reset.

Step 8: Check for Windows Updates

  1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates and install any pending updates.
