Yes nowadays most notebooks come with AC wifi adapters, but avoid the ones with the Realtek AC wifi adapters if you can.

They have been nothing but trouble. 

Realtek releases drivers which seems like every two weeks to fix the connection issues they are plagued with.

I don't know why HP is still using them.

I'm a little sceptical of this one Paul, can you show me where you see this info, was it on an Intel based Laptop?

I see on amazon that the size is different, does that matter?

Broadcom 4313GN:   6.2 x 1.4 x 1.4 in

Intel 7260:                   0.5 x 0.5 x 0.5 in  While it is a "PCI Express Half Mini" the dimensions don't look correct?

Also, I could not see which BIOS I have?  Do I need to go into the BIOS itself?  I was going to go over to bios-mods.com and see if there is a mod there for my laptop.

P.S. What does 1x1 or 2x2 mean?

Agreed Paul, I'm quite the Intel Fanboy.  If I were to buy a new pc it would be all intel, even graphics.

I only have Intel PC's--desktops and notebooks.

The Intel 7260 is the same form factor as the BCM card you have.

1 x 1 and 2 x 2 are the number of data streams up or down the wifi card can handle.

Folks are under the impression that it means the # of antenna cables, and that is incorrect.

There are plenty of HMC 1 x1 cards that have two antenna cables connected to them.

But the new models the 1 x 1 card do all have one antenna and the 2 x 2 cards all have two antennas.

You can check the BIOS mods website and see if they have a mod for your notebooks model series.

It would have to be specifically for the dv7-6c00 model series.

I should have said, I have the AMD Based laptop because it was a hand me down.  So the Upgrade will be the same for the AMD based?  

P.S. Then I need to start a Thread about my Battery.  The thing is going downhill and I am apprehensive about buying a new old stock battery for such an old laptop, hence the possibility of buying a new Laptop.

If you have an AMD notebook, than an Intel card most likely will not work.

If you find a BIOS mod for your notebook, let me know, and I will give you two Broadcom dual band alternatives.

One AC and one dual band N.

You can either look there, or use the Windows system information program in the Windows administrative tools section.

I don't see the info I'm looking for in System Info.  I don't see numbers like this:  "30A5F24"

I'm a little nervous now after looking at the site carefully, because this is my work laptop and don't want to cause myself more problems than necessary.  What Upgrade is possible with the AMD Now...any?
