Your machine is around 9-10 years old, it only has one antenna. You can upgrade wifi adapter using the following list to get better wifi

  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.0 combo adapter, for use only on computer models equipped with Intel processors for HP Pavilion 17 and 15 Notebook PC computer models part # 710662-005
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter for HP Pavilion 17 and 15
    Notebook PC part # 784638-005

Regards.

Hi, @kamalchamee

Possibly the AX210 will work but since your notebook only has one antenna wire, there will be no Bluetooth reception.

I just installed the same card in my older (circa 2014) HP 350 G1 notebook that has an Intel i3-4005U processor, and it works great, but since my notebook has two antenna wires, the Bluetooth works too.

This discussion also shows the card works in older notebooks, but it won't work in any notebook made in 2011 or earlier, because every HP notebook made in 2011 or earlier has a BIOS whitelist.

Can the RTL8822CE card work on my laptop?

Do Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work on this card with one antenna cable?

HP Recommended

It would also probably work, but not the Bluetooth.

That is what the auxiliary antenna connection is used for.

You may as well buy the AX210 because it is a much better and more reliable card than the RTL8822CE.

If I install an additional antenna cable into the second antenna socket on the card, will both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth work?

HP Recommended

Yes, but make sure you get the right size.

The antenna wires are different for the M.2 form factor cards and the HMC form factor cards.

Make sure no metal part of the antenna wire touches any part of the motherboard and connect the second antenna you add to the Auxiliary connector on the Wi-Fi card.

The Wi-Fi reception will be more important than the Bluetooth since you are normally closer to a Bluetooth device when you connect to it.
