My notebook only shows the 2.4 G band and my needs would be better served by the 5.0 G. What can I do to access 5.0G?

Hi,
Your machine was built around 2013 therefore the chance to upgrade a wireless card is from slim to none. The whole series did not have options for 5.0GHz cards. Please try

I was unaware of USB wireless WiFi dual band adapters. The link provided also offered USB RG45 wired adapters that meet my requirement better than wireless, so I'll try that as a solution.
Thanks for your assistance and speedy response.

Hi, @belonj :
You can install the Intel dual band wireless N or AC card in your notebook.
Your notebook was one of the first model series where the HP BIOS whitelist was discontinued.
Either one of these cards will work fine...
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 HP Part #710661-001
Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260AN 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi + BT4.0 HP Part # 717381-001
You should be able to get either one of these cards on Amazon or eBay.
Do your search by the HP part number, not the model of the card.
Both cards have drivers for W10.
Since your notebook currently has the Intel 2230, you may not even need to install the drivers.
Also, the product specs page for your notebook indicates that it comes with a gigabit ethernet adapter, so there would be no need for you to buy a USB version of one.
