Hello,
I recently purchased an HP 17-bs049dx and I found that cannot connect to any 5ghz wireless networks. I contacted HP Support and they also confirmed that my laptop cannot connect to 5ghz wireless networks. For your reference, my laptop came installed with the RealTek RTL8723DE
Is it possible for me to upgrade to a dual band wireless network card that will allow me to connect to a 5ghz wireless network?

Your notebook is most likely to be configured with a single wifi antenna, considering its other specs.
That makes upgrading to an internal dual band wifi adapter not viable.
You can purchase a usb dual band (2.4 & 5 Ghz) dongle. Plug it into a USB port and use it to achive use of the 5 Ghz band.
