Hi, apologies for the stupid questions. This is my first ever own laptop. I got an Omen laptop with one of those big chargers the size of a phone in August this year. However I just noticed that a bit of it got loose (like in the picture). I have no idea how it happened, my guess is it got pulled somewhere? The charger still works but I'm not sure for how long.

Can I still get a new one? Is there like warranty for this? How do I go about it with customer service? Once again, apologies for the questions, I just genuinely have no idea how to do this

@wukanmu2,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

No need to apologize -that is a very good question, and it's important to address it properly!

If your charger's cable or connector housing has come loose, it is indeed best not to keep using it, even if it still works, since a damaged power adapter can pose a safety risk or fail suddenly.

Here's what to do:

  1. Check your purchase date – Since you bought the OMEN laptop in August this year, it's still under HP’s standard 1-year warranty, which also covers the original AC adapter.
  2. Contact HP Support (India):
    • Go to: https://support.hp.com/in-en/contact.
    • Enter your laptop’s serial number (found under the laptop or in BIOS → System Information).
    • Choose "Power and charging issue" and request a replacement adapter under warranty.
  3. HP may ask you to upload a photo of the damage. If it's determined to be a manufacturing defect or normal wear, the adapter will be replaced free of charge.
    • If it looks like accidental damage (pulled or twisted cable), you may still buy an official HP replacement adapter directly through HP or an authorized service partner.
  4. Do not tape or glue the adapter -stop using it if it feels hot or makes noise.

Summarizing:

The adapter is likely still under warranty.
Contact HP India Support for a free or discounted replacement.

Kind Regards,
