My Laptop: HP Envy 17t-j000 Quad Edition CTO Notebook PC
Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit Version
Microprocessor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4900MQ CPU @ 2.80GHz
Question #1: I'd like to upgrade my original wifi/bluetooth card (Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 2230) from 2.4 to 5.0Ghz. Is that possible and if so, what card will work?
Question #2: Based upon another post, I tried installing an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 2x2 Network plus Bluetooth adapter. It provided 5GHZ wifi, but lost all my Bluetooth connections. Device manager isn't showing any BT. I then reinstalled my original card thinking my Bluetooth would come back, but it hasn't. I would appreciate any suggestions on how to enable my Bluetooth again.
Thanks!

Hi:
Here is a way to get the Intel 7260 Bluetooth to work:
Intel 7260 Wifi/Bluetooth Card Fix - YouTube
As to why the reinstalling the Intel 2230 BT adapter didn't restore the Bluetooth, that I do not know.
If the hack to get the Intel 7260 doesn't work, the only suggestion I can offer would be to try the equivalent Broadcom card.
Broadcom BCM4352 802.11ac 2x2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.0 combo HP part # 724935-001

Thanks. I think I have discovered a couple of things - all in Device Manager.
#1 - I never uninstalled the original 2.4GHz wi-fi card before installing the 5GHz card. I think this prevented the 5GHz card from loading properly.
#2 - To see the Bluetooth devices in Device Manager, go to the View menu and select Show Hidden Devices.
I'm going to try reinstalling the 5GHz card later and let you know how it went.

You're very welcome.
Yes, that is often essential to first properly uninstall the old Wi-Fi card device and drivers and the Bluetooth adapter device and drivers and shutting down the PC prior to installing a different card.
If you have only done this recently, perhaps with the existing Intel 2230 N card installed you can do a system restore and select a restore point prior to the time you installed the Intel 7260 and see if the 2230 is working normally and the BT is present and working after the system restore process has completed.
If it is, then you can uninstall the devices and drivers and try the Intel card.
I always thought the 7260 would work without a hitch in the 15t-j and 17t-j model series.
I have only come across the BT not working on the older dv6t/dv7t notebooks and usually that you tube video procedure will resolve the missing Bluetooth issue.

I tried taping over pin 51 and pin 20 as suggested in the YouTube video Intel 7260 Wifi/Bluetooth Card Fix. I was not successful. I just bought the Broadcom card, and it should arrive next week. I will let you know if that is successful.

You're very welcome.
That's good news.
Perhaps if you uninstall the device/drivers this time you will be all set.
The Broadcom card was used in multiple HP notebooks back in the day including yours, as indicated in chapter 3 of the service manual.
I still don't get why the Intel card's Bluetooth wouldn't work in your PC.

I was successful in installing the Broadcom BCRM1068 802.11ac 2x2 BT 4.0 (HP Part Number 724935-001). This card is an update to the Broadcom BCM4352 originally offered (both have the same HP part number).
5GHz wifi was immediately available after the installation, but none of my BT devices were working even though BT was on and the devices were listed as paired. What's more, removing the devices from Settings would fail. The procedure I used to get BT working is below:
1. In Settings, turn Bluetooth off.
2. In Device Manager, from the View Menu, select Show Hidden Devices.
3. Expand the Bluetooth section and for each greyed-out device, right-click and select Uninstall Device (select drivers if a checkbox is offered).
4. Reboot after all non-functioning devices/drivers have been removed.
5. Reinstall all necessary Bluetooth devices (the hardest part is figuring out what buttons to press on headphones and mice to make them discoverable).
This process probably would have worked using the Intel A-7260, but I wasn't comfortable with taping over pins to get the card to work.
Anyway, thanks for all your help!

You're very welcome.
Here are the latest W10 drivers HP has for the card.
Broadcom 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Driver
7.35.351.0 (Windows 10 should have automatically installed 7.35.352.0)
If you have 7.35.352.0 installed, don't install this driver.
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp78001-78500/sp78044.exe
Broadcom Bluetooth Driver (this may be newer than the one W10 installs)
12.0.1.921
