Hi there and thank you for any help you can provide. I'm looking to upgrade my existing Bluetooth/Wifi card 802.11b/g/n (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230) card to the new standard AC. I understand there is a card that has worked with other models that is the: Broadcom BCM 4352 WLAN 802.11 AC+BT4 2x2HMC... I, however, have not been able to locate info or even find a white paper on this concerning my laptop.

So if someone can please let me if this particular card or maybe another card that also has  AC and Bluetooth capability that would work with my particular laptop I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you!

You're very welcome.

If you are only interested in an AC wifi card, than you only need to look for this one...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0                HP Part #710661-001

It is capable of operating on the 2.4 GHz wifi band as a wireless N card.

Here are the specs from Intel...page 2 shows all of its connection capabilities next to the IEEE WLAN Standard

Hi:

On a model such as yours with an Intel 3rd gen core processor, here are the two model wifi cards that I know will work...

If you have or plan to get an AC router...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0                HP Part #710661-001

If you only have a dual band wireless N router and don't plan on replacing it anytime soon...

Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260AN 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi + BT4.0   HP Part # 717381-001

Either card is readily available on Amazon or eBay.

Do your search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply Paul! I presently do have a Netgear AC dual band router. Originally, from my bedroom upstairs I was really losing the signal a lot using the internal N band wifi connection and became quite a pain to have to reset the connection constantly. So I purchased a cheap USB AC dongle type connection and it worked great till it stopped working. I felt the USB AC wifi dongle and it was really hot and I'm assuming it burnt itself out. I was researching and saw that I could change out the internal adapter of my laptop.

Looking at your response to the two you listed the first one:

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0                HP Part #710661-001 Does this have the lower Does it have the lower bands in it even though it only says ac?

The second one you listed: Intel Dual Band Wireless-N 7260AN 802.11 a/b/g/n 2x2 WiFi + BT4.0   HP Part # 717381-001

I notice that it doesn't list the ac at all. Also looking them both up on Amazon doesn't provide that info either. Just want to be sure.

Thanks again!

Paul, so there is no solution to run AC 5.8Mhz and 2.4Mhz a,g,n along with Bluetooth on one card for my laptop? Is that what I am to understand? It's either just AC or N? Running just on AC would only be realistic at my house but not everywhere else.
