Pavilion dv7 notebook
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I'm trying to enable 2nd HP notebook computer, with direct wired ethernet connection, from 150 mMb fiber optic modem.

New ethernet cable & connectors check out OK. Substituted other simular notebook computer in place of problem

notebook connected at end of new wiring. Substituted notebook computer works OK with wired connection. This verifies

that the problem exists only with 2nd laptop.  On problem laptop I disabling wireless connection setup, then shutdown,

connected ethernet wired cable & rebooted to see if new wired connection would be recognized at startup. Still NO-GO

                                                                                                                                                                        Any ideas??????????..... Help!

What is your Pavilion dv7 ? Many dv7 machine only have 10/100 NIC. Your machine may only have 10/100 NIC therefore it may not accept higher speed ports. You need to change it to auto negotiate from Windows. Please try

    https://it.umn.edu/wired-network-speed-duplex-settings-1

Note: Even you can connect, NIC card on your computer won't get full speed you want. Anyway, again, what is your dv7 ?  Please use the following instructions to find out the model/product of your machine:

Please do NOT post its Serial number (s/n).
