I am on an extremely old HP Stream Laptop 11 and I have started it up after very many years but it will not find my network. Please, in the dumbest way you can, explain how I can solve this. I’m not a computer geek so imagine you’re explaining it to a child.

If you referring to automatically connecting to your network it could be a simple as needing to provide a network password if you have replaced your router, router/modem combo since you last used your laptop. If you don't know the network password you can find it on a label on the back or side of the router. It will be under something like "Network Key/Password.  I believe your hp stream 11 is running Windows 10 probably in S mode so the notes are for Windows 10.

1. If the wifi icon is visible in the lower right hand corner of the display, click it and find and click your wifi network name in the list. If it asks for a password, enter it. If it just shows CONNECT and a box for CONNECT AUTOMATICALLY, then check the box.

2. If you don't see the wifi icon then check to make sure wifi is turned ON.

2.1 Press the Windows key (to the left of the ALT key and the X key and select settings.

Then Settings-->Network & Internet-->wifi    Make sure the wifi button is set ON.

2.2 Make sure the Airplane mode is not turned on. You have a Airplane Mode key on the keyboard (f12) that will

toggle it on/off. When ON the wifi icon turns into an airplane icon.

3. You can also run the network trouble shooter.

Settings-->Network & internet-->Status   then find below "Network troubleshooter" and click that.
