There ya go...
OK...You should be able to replace the current wifi card with this one.
Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)
HP Part # L17365-005.
The only place I have been able to find this card is on eBay because it has been on back order on the HP part store for eons now. I just checked again, and it is still not in stock.

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook. The wifi card R & R procedure can be found in chapter 6.

Hi:
It sounds to me like you are trying to connect to a network on the 5.0 GHz wifi band and your notebook probably has a wifi adapter that can only connect on the 2.4 GHz wifi band.
If you let me know what model wifi adapter your notebook comes with, I will confirm that is the problem.

Hello, thanks for the response. Not sure if I'm doing this right (not a techie person, sorry), but I think my wifi adapter is Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter. The one above that says Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller.
Is there something I can do to fix this, or that's it and I pretty much just can't connect to that wifi?

You're very welcome.
The Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter indeed is only a single band wifi adapter that cannot 'see' 5.0 GHz wifi networks.
Anytime you see a wireless N adapter with a suffix that ends in bgn, that means it is a single band wifi adapter.
Dual band wifi N adapters have suffixes that end in abgn or agn.
Depending on the exact model notebook you have, you may be able to replace your notebook's current wifi adapter with one that is dual band.
I would need to know the full model number or product number of your notebook in order to see if that is possible.
If you recently bought the notebook, I can tell you that it will not be a very easy job to do.

Anytime.
See this link for the info I need, because what you posted is not it.
