Centrino Wireless-N 1000 does not 'see' wifi network. Ping 127.0.0.1 ok. Was working 12 hours ago. Computer Manage says working ok. Troubleshooting (Microsoft internal) says device turned off...what?? In Centrino properties, says enabled.

Hi
Could you please expand on the
MAKE, MODEL, OS and SKU?
WinKey + R and type msinfo32 then look at line 9 for the SKU.
Surely a loopback ping could use any ethernet connection and mis-lead you?
getmac
netsh interface ip show interface
netsh lan show interfaces | more /c
netsh wlan show drivers | more /c
netsh wlan show interfaces | more /c
ipconfig -all
systeminfo
msinfo32
One of the above, at least, should shed some light on the situation.
If in doubt please ask.

ipconfig /all shows all media connections are 'disconnected'. msinfo32, line 9 of summary is not SKU, nor any line for that matter.
I thought about opening up the case and see if remove and re-insert hardware might work. The notebook has been sitting on a table for quite some time, don't think there is a vibration issue.
I really, really appreciate your input. If you have any more thoughts, keep 'em coming.

CF4:
Here's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
As I mentioned, the HP dv7 has been sitting on a table in this room for quite some time (maybe a year). I got out an extension RJ-45, but still had to move the laptop to another desk to get close enough to the router. In doing so, I unplugged the battery charging cable. Turns out the battery is going bad and there was minimal charge available. The laptop died after two minutes. Reconnected the charger and BINGO, the wifi connection was alive and working...I have 50 Mbits.
How do we correlate the under charged battery with no wifi? It's a mystery to me.
