The Wi-fi signal on this chromebook is forever changing from low-medium-strong and disconnecting. At first I though it was my wifi strength however i noticed the same thing happening when I wifi at other locations.

Now after doing some research online I found this is a common issue. I have tried connection trouble shooting and powerwash etc and the issue remains.

How can I get it fixed?

Hi @antmil,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If your HP Chromebook's Wi-Fi signal strength is fluctuating and disconnecting across different locations, the issue may be related to the Chromebook's Wi-Fi hardware, drivers, or settings rather than the Wi-Fi network itself. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

1. Restart Your Chromebook

  • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off your Chromebook, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

2. Update Chrome OS

  • Ensure your Chromebook is running the latest version of Chrome OS. Updates often include fixes for connectivity issues.
  • Go to Settings > About Chrome OS and check for updates.

3. Forget and Reconnect to the Wi-Fi Network

  • Forget the Wi-Fi network and then reconnect to it:
    • Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the bottom right corner.
    • Click on the network you're connected to, and select "Forget."
    • Reconnect by selecting the network and entering the password.

4. Check for Interference

  • Wi-Fi signals can be affected by interference from other devices or physical barriers. Try moving closer to the Wi-Fi router or changing the Wi-Fi channel in your router settings.

5. Reset Network Settings

  • Reset the network settings on your Chromebook:
    • Go to Settings > Network > Wi-Fi.
    • Turn off the Wi-Fi, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
