I have a refurbished HP Envy 14. I spend most of my time at college connected to their wifi. Most of the time this works okay, though I will randomly lose signal and have to disconnect from the wifi then reconnect. However, when I get home, the wifi on my computer does not work at all. It says it is connected to the network, and can access google, but no other websites. All other devices work on both home and school wifi without a problem.
Fixes I tried:
Updating wireless drivers
In the command prompt:
- netsh int ip reset
- netsh winsock reset all
- netsh int tcp reset all
- netsh int ipv4 reset all
- netsh int ipv6 reset all
- netsh int httpstunnel reset all
- ipconfig /flushdns
Changing Adapter settings
Nothing has worked to this point, and this is something I have struggled with for over a year, so it isn't due to a recent Windows update. I'm at such a loss here, could it be something with the wireless card, or is this a bigger computer issue?

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
I see that your experiencing issue with the wireless connectivity and unable to access other website browsers, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
- What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824 (Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).
- When was the last time it worked fine?
- Did this happen after a recent window or software update?
While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
BIOS reset steps to restore BIOS settings for HP notebook computers.
-
Restart your notebook.
-
After the computer restarts, press F10 repeatedly until the BIOS menu displays.
-
Once the BIOS menu displays, press F9 to restore factory defaults.
-
Select Yes to confirm.
-
Press F10 to save changes and exit.
-
Select Yes to confirm.
The computer restarts using the default settings.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

@Echo_Lake
Thank you for your help! I tried the BIOS reset and unfortunately, it did not fix the problem. The computer says wifi is connected and secured, but is unable to access sites.
Product Number: M1V80UAR#ABL
I think it worked fine in 2016 before I went to college, but ever since then it hasn't worked at home. It works alright at school, but still randomly is unable to access the internet when it says it is connected. This also is not a common problem at the university as I have checked with friends and theirs all work fine. This problem did not begin after a system update.

press Start: type in "cmd" press enter. A new black windows should open
2) find out your default gateway
In the Command Prompt(black window) type "ipconfig". A lot of information will appear look for "Default Gateway". Next to the heading it will display a number(an IP address). The IP address will most likely start with "192.168...." Take note of this number.
