@Myron2018,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

This is a wonderful place to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips.

I reviewed your post and understand that you are unable to connect to internet using Microsoft Edge.

I'll be glad to help you 🙂

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • What is the exact model for your computer?
  • What is the operating system you are using?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

For now, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Method 1:

Run the apps troubleshooter and check if it helps with the issue. Refer to the following article and run the Apps troubleshooter:

Run the troubleshooter for Windows apps

If the issue still exists, try the next method.

Method 2:

Try to run a System File Checker (SFC) scan to check for any file corruption. SFC scan will scan for corrupt system files on the computer and repair them.

  1. Press Windows key + X, click Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. In the Command Prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    sfc /scannow

If the issue still exists, try the next method.

Method 3:

You may check the same issue with the new user account.

Try these steps to create a new user account and check if it fixes the issue. Refer to the steps below to create a new User Account:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Choose Accounts and then select Other User Accounts towards the left.
  3. Select Add an Account.
  4. Enter a user name and hit Next.
  5. Click on Finish.
  6. Sign out from the current Account and Log into the new account.
  7. Check if the issue persists.

If the above doesn't work, you may need to reset the browser.

Let me know how it goes. Awaiting your reply!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!

Good day! Take care 🙂

Cheers!

I have an HP Notebook - 15z-af000 CTO (Product M7S72AV). I bought it in February 2016 and shortly thereafter installed the free Windown 10 upgrade.  Then the product was packed away while we moved and not unpacked until this month.  Since unpacking, I have been unable to connect to the internet, either by wifi or ethernet, while other computers were connected at the same time. I ran all the diagnostics on the HP machine and it suggested deleting the 3 network drivers and restarting the machine. Only 2 drivers seem to have been reinstalled (Ethernet controller and Realtek RL8188EE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter) and there is 1 unknown device showing immediately below the list of network drivers.

The best advice I could find on the HP site was to download and reinstall the network drivers, that may have been updated. However,  I seem unable to describe my configuration (M7S72AV + Windows 10), since I con only connect on a different machine.

So my first objective is to learn how to download the network drivers through another machine to a flash drive, and then how to install them on my HP machine.

My next question would be how to determine if the underlying problem is with hardware, not software, which I would expect would be unrepairable.

Thanks,

Ira Cotton
