Dear HP Community!

I have a strange issue with my new HP Spectre X360. Whenever I connect my Apple Airpods to the computer via bluetooth, they usually work fine for a little while. Very randomly though they will randomly stop working so that I don't hear anything anymore, or sometimes a weird buzzing sound similar to a radio interference can be heard. I can usually fix it by heading back into the bluetooth menu or just hitting mute/unmute a few times.

I have no idea what causes this and it can be quite frustrating when trying to listen to music from my computer.

Anyone familiar with this issue and know how to fix it?

Thank you!

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I appreciate your efforts to try and isolate the issue. As Bluetooth device is connecting and functioning, this means its not the Bluetooth hardware issue on the computer.

Let's try updating Bluetooth drivers and check.

Perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant:

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hey @Echo_Lake!

Thank you so much for getting back to me. Following your steps I see that my last update was as of two days ago. This makes me think that a simple system update won't fix the issue. Is there a way for updating specifically the bluetooth hardware that is "more powerful" than this first route perhaps?

Thanks!

In order to update the Bluetooth device. follow the below steps:

In Windows, search for and open Device Manager. In the list of devices, expand the device you want to update. Right-click the device and then select Update driver or Update driver software. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the updated driver.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
