Hi,

My desktop suddenly won't connect to one of my wifi networks. All other devices connect okay.

When I troubleshoot, it shows that my default gateway is not available.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @connie555,

Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for the First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

What is the product number of your product? Use this link to find it: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03754824

Did this happen after an update?

Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting this on HP Forums?

In the meantime, let's start off by performing these steps here:

Let's start by updating the network as explained below:

In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, and then select Device Manager from the list of results.

In Device Manager, select Network adapters > the network adapter name.

Press and hold (or right-click) the network adapter, and then select Update Driver Software > Search automatically for updated driver software. Follow the steps, then select Close.

After installing the updated driver, select the Start  button > Power > Restart if you're asked to restart, and see if that fixes the connection issue.

If that doesn’t fix your connection problem, try these things:

Reset the TCP/IP stack

Release the IP address

Renew the IP address

Flush and reset the DNS client resolver cache

To run these networking commands in a command prompt window

In the search box on the taskbar, type Command prompt, press and hold (or right-click) Command prompt, and then select Run as administrator > Yes.

At the command prompt, run the following commands in the listed order, and then check to see if that fixes your connection problem:

Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.

Type netsh int ip reset and press Enter.

Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.

Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.

Type ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to follow the steps suggested in the support document for - HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and the Internet (Windows 10)

· If you have already tried reinstalling the Wi-Fi drivers, I would recommend using an Ethernet cable (Wired) and update your Wi-Fi drivers using this link ·

Update the bios by visiting this link or through support assistant using an Ethernet cable.

· Now try to connect to the internet wireless.

I have the HP Pavilion All-in-One - 23-q114 (Touch).

I tried all the steps listed but had no luck. When I run ipconfig /release, it shows that all my media is disconnected.

To clarify, I am able to connect to other wireless networks, but can't connect to one particular network although other devices are able to.

Thanks in advance!

Is your network adapter 2.4 Ghz or 5.0 Ghz or both?

Does that particular network offer the same type of connections?

Perhaps, that network is configured to connect only to specific computers (via their unique MAC-addresses)?

What devices can connect?  iPhone? Other laptop? iPad?

HP Recommended

I have both 2.4 & 5 ghz. My desktop only shows the 2.4 although all other computers in the office show both 2.4 and 5. I've tried looking into network configuration to see any MAC filtering settings and it shows that my desktop is connected. But my actual desktop shows "secured, not connected."

I'm confused about this issue because I had no problems until now. Didn't update or change anything.

Other devices connected are iphone, android phone, mac book, iPad.

I'm not sure what you mean.

The wireless router will have different SSID values for each of the networks (2.4 and 5).

Does the wireless adapter in your desktop have the capability to connect to both networks?

Does Windows show the two SSID values, or just the SSID for the 2.4 network?

HP Recommended

It used to show both networks (when everything was working fine), but now it only onlys the SSID for the 2.4 network.

> now it only [shows] the SSID for the 2.4 network.

It could be a "setting" within the "properties" for the device to use only the 2.4 network.

Or, it could be a hardware failure,

Exactly what manufacturer and model-number of wireless adapter are you using?
