Hello,

has anyone an idea about the real difference between those 2 models? As I have checked, the dispaly is different - 2.8K (2880 x 1800) OLED touch vs 2.5K 2560 x 1600 IPS non touch. Will this influence the battery life? The OLED one uses also PWM to dimm the dispaly, which is probably not very good for the eyes.

Also the batt is 68Wh vs in X G1i vs 64Wh in the G1i.

Which one would you choose for typical bussiness/office use.

Hi @chittasha1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

The HP EliteBook X G1i and G1i Next Gen AI models have several distinct differences that can influence usability and preference, especially for business and office use. Here are the primary differences and considerations:

Display

HP EliteBook X G1i Next Gen AI:

  • Resolution: 2.8K (2880 x 1800) OLED Touchscreen.
  • Features: Touch-enabled, OLED with superior color accuracy and contrast.
  • Pros: Enhanced visual quality, vivid colors, touch functionality.
  • Cons: Uses Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) for dimming, which may cause eye strain for some users.

HP EliteBook G1i Next Gen AI:

  • Resolution: 2.5K (2560 x 1600) IPS Non-touch.
  • Features: IPS panel with good viewing angles and color reproduction.
  • Pros: No PWM issues, generally better for prolonged usage with less eye strain.

Battery Life

Battery Capacity:

  • HP EliteBook X G1i: 68Wh battery.
  • HP EliteBook G1i: 64Wh battery.

Features and Usability

  • Touchscreen: The X G1i offers touchscreen capabilities, which can be beneficial for interactive tasks and presentations.
  • Battery: The X G1i’s slightly larger battery might offer marginally longer battery life, although the power-consuming OLED display might offset this advantage.

For typical business and office use:

HP EliteBook G1i Next Gen AI (IPS non-touch) might be a better choice if:

  • Long working hours are involved, as IPS displays can be easier on the eyes.
  • Battery life is critical; although the X G1i has a larger battery, the IPS display is more energy-efficient.
  • You do not require touch functionality.

HP EliteBook X G1i Next Gen AI (OLED touch) might be beneficial if:

  • You prioritize display quality and touch functionality.
  • Visual tasks (like graphically intensive work) are a significant part of your usage pattern.

Ultimately, the choice will depend on your specific needs and preferences regarding display quality, battery life, and interaction capabilities.

I hope this helps.
