All Elitebook 840 G5 have a SIM card slot.
What 90% of them don't have is the optional WWAN adapter that is needed to connect to the cellular service.
If your notebook supports broadband internet, it must have one of the supported WWAN adapters listed in chapter 3 of the service manual.
You can easily check if your notebook has one of those adapters by going to the device manager, click to expand the Network adapters category, and look for one of these model WWAN adapters:
HP lt4132
Intel XMM 7360
If it doesn't, if you want to install one of those model WWAN adapters make sure your notebook has the required antenna system installed where the WWAN adapter would plug in to.
