Been having problems connectign to internet for several weeks> have used device manager to update driver and roll back to previous versions but these were only very short term access until problem reappeared a few mintes later.
Finally decided I need to unistall driver and re-install from scratch. Can anyone tell me how to find the correct driver -the choice is very confusing.
Any other suggestions as well as / instead of the unistall re-install option would also be much appreciated.

Hi:
Below is the link to the latest W8.1 Realtek Wifi driver...
This package contains the driver installation package for the Realtek RTL8723BE/RTL8188EE wireless LAN Controller in the supported models running a supported operating system.

Hi Paul
Thanks so much for your reply. I have uninstalled the old dodgy driver / device and downloaded the pack you kindly sent me the link to. However, after downloading it began to run the install, showing a dialogue box which said 'preparing to instal' and then whirs away for a bit before the dialogue box just dsappears.
Any thoughts?

You're very welcome.
Did you check to see if the wifi driver installed? See if it has the latest version and date.
Some of these files do 'silent installs' and there is no ending notification that the driver installed successfully.
If the driver didn't install, you can try manually installing it as follows...
Now, I don't know what you are seeing in the device manager.
If there is no wifi driver at all, then you will see a device labeled as a Network Controller listed under an Other Devices category in the device manager.
If the wifi adapter has some version of the driver installed, it will be listed under the Network Adapters device manager category as its model name.
So...for either device do this...go to the device manager and click on either the Network Controller or the Realtek wifi adapter as applicable.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located under C:\SWSetup\sp82801.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
Then restart the PC.
