Hi All, I have an old Presario F500, I updated it rather stupidly to win10, I have lost all my wireless network, only have an orange light on the front, it seems to be off, Network was off in Bios, its a complete nightmare. So I went back to win 7 it’s a 64 bit machine, everything was ok except my wireless network. So put win8.1 on it and again no wireless network, it wont detect any networks. I assume it must be driver problems, saw someone else had same problem, they were told to install driver sp37730, so did this, sorted the coprocessor out. Some very weird things are going on, the like setting does not display correctly no headings.
I have a usb stick with the drivers on, but none seem to work maybe old, maybe the wireless card has blown, can anybody advise suitable drivers that will cure my problems.
Many thanks
Bazzamer

Hi:
Go to the device manager.
Do you see a Network Controller listed there with a little ! mark next to it?
If so, that is the wifi adapter that needs a driver.
If not, either the wifi adapter died on your or the motherboard slot the card goes into has died on you.
The F500's with the AMD processors had issues with the motherboards overheating and that usually took out the graphics and the wifi.
If you see a Network Controller device, please post the hardware ID for it and I will give you the link to the W7 driver you need.
That would be the newest driver available.

Hi, Many thanks for the very fast reply. I wondered why it was getting a bit hot on my lap.
it is Nvidia nforce Networking Controller, looks like it’s running a Microsoft driver despite me trying for its Nvidia driver, Microsoft 23/02/2012 version 7.3.1.7336, it states device working correctly. Each time I try to install the Nvidia driver it goes back to the Microsoft one, maybe that’s the problem, have tried uninstalling but it just puts the Microsoft one back.
I kept all the original drivers on a usb stick, but maybe out if date now. I went onto HP site looking for updated drivers, but could not find any, did not reconize my pc.
many thanks for the help
Barry

You're very welcome, Barry.
The Nvidia nforce Networking Controller is the wired adapter, not the wireless one.
If you don't have any devices showing up in the device manager that need drivers, it is a hardware problem, not a software one.
HP retired support for the F500 model series since it is more than 10 years old.
I suggest you buy a cheap USB wifi adapter so you can connect wirelessly.

You're very welcome, Barry.
That ID is for the wired ethernet controller and the driver is already installed for that.
If you were to plug an ethernet cable to the PC and one of your router's ethernet ports, you would have internet.
