I have an HP Envy Inspire 7200E series. It is not used much but we have had this printer for about 3 months and this problem happens often. The printer will be "OFFLINE" to the PC. the only way to get it back on line is to delete it and refind it. I can't find anything on the printer that would let me go "ONLINE".

Hi @noeann,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP Envy Inspire 7200E series printer frequently goes offline, it can be frustrating, especially when you have to keep deleting and re-adding it to get it back online. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer Connections
- Network Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to the network. If it’s a wireless printer, check that it is connected to your Wi-Fi network.
- Reboot Router: Restart your router to resolve any potential network issues.
- Reconnect Printer: On the printer, go to the network settings and reconnect to your Wi-Fi network if needed.
2. Verify Printer Status
- Printer Display: Check the printer’s display panel for any error messages or warnings. Address any issues indicated on the screen.
- Paper and Ink Levels: Ensure the printer has paper loaded and ink cartridges are not low or empty.
3. Update Printer Drivers
- Download Latest Drivers: Visit the HP support website and download the latest drivers and software for your HP Envy Inspire 7200E series printer.
- HP Smart App: Use the HP Smart app to update drivers and manage your printer. The app often provides automatic updates and troubleshooting tips.
4. Set Printer as Default:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your HP Envy Inspire 7200E and select Set as default printer.
5. Check Printer Queue
- Open Devices and Printers.Right-click on your printer and select See what’s printing.
- Click Printer in the menu bar and select Cancel All Documents.
6. Disable “Use Printer Offline” Option:
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.Right-click on your HP Envy Inspire 7200E and select See what’s printing.
- Click Printer in the menu bar and ensure that Use Printer Offline is unchecked.
7. Check Printer Network Settings
- Printer IP Address: Make sure your printer’s IP address is correctly assigned and not conflicting with another device on the network.
- Print a network configuration page from the printer’s control panel to verify the IP address.
8. Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings
- Allow Printer Through Firewall: Ensure that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking communication with your printer.
- Add exceptions for the printer in your firewall or antivirus settings.
9. Perform a Printer Reset:
- On the printer, access the network settings and reset them. Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network after resetting.
- Factory Reset: If other steps fail, you might consider performing a factory reset on the printer. Refer to the printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
10. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor
- Diagnostic Tool: Use HP’s Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and resolve common printer issues.
- Download it from the HP Support website and follow the instructions provided by the tool.
11. Check for Firmware Updates
- Update Firmware: Ensure your printer has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates can resolve bugs and improve printer functionality.
- You can update the firmware via the HP Smart app or by checking the printer’s control panel settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
