Hi, i bought a Omen PC with i9 CPU with free dos, i installed Windows 11 ad update all driver from HP, my problem is that ethernet Speed Is slow compared to old PC, i made a lan Speed test using a share directory in my home Nas, with an old PC i reach a Speed of 600Mbps, instead with Omen, in the same condition only 150Mbps.
The LAN driver version is 10.72.524.2024 released on 24/05/2024.
I made another test i create in Omen PC a virtual machine with Windows 10 and bridged LAN connection, repeat the test and the Speed Is more then 400Mbps! Is It a driver problem or what else?

Hi @hedge1966
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're experiencing slower Ethernet speeds on your HP Omen PC (with i9 CPU) when running Windows 11, compared to your old PC, even though the setup (network, NAS, and cable) is the same. The fact that you're seeing a much better speed in a Windows 10 virtual machine suggests that it could be a software-related issue with Windows 11 or the specific network driver being used.
Let's break this down and go through some steps to troubleshoot and potentially fix the issue.
1. Driver Issues or Compatibility
It’s possible that the network driver installed on your Omen PC for Windows 11 might not be optimized for the specific Ethernet adapter you're using. Even though the driver version you're using (10.72.524.2024) seems up-to-date, there could be a compatibility issue.
Steps to Fix:
- Check for Updated Drivers: Sometimes, manufacturers release additional updates after the initial driver release. Make sure you're using the latest driver for your Ethernet adapter, specifically for Windows 11.
- Visit the HP Support page for your Omen PC and check for the latest Ethernet drivers.
- You can also try checking for drivers directly from the Ethernet card manufacturer (e.g., Intel, Realtek).
- Try the Generic Windows Driver: Sometimes, the generic Windows network driver might work better than a manufacturer-specific driver.
- Uninstall the current Ethernet driver in Device Manager (right-click the Ethernet adapter > Uninstall).
- Reboot your system and allow Windows 11 to install the default Ethernet driver. This might fix any driver-related issues.
2. Network Adapter Settings
There might be settings in the Ethernet adapter configuration that are limiting your speed in Windows 11. Let’s review these settings.
Steps to Adjust:
- Open Device Manager > Network adapters > Right-click your Ethernet adapter > Properties.
- Go to the Advanced tab and check for any settings that could affect performance:
- Speed & Duplex: Set it to Auto Negotiation.
- Flow Control: Try toggling this setting between Enabled and Disabled to see if it makes a difference.
- Large Send Offload: Ensure it's Enabled.
- You can also try to disable any unnecessary features like Energy Efficient Ethernet if it's enabled.
3. Windows 11 Network Settings
Windows 11 might have some network settings that are throttling your Ethernet connection.
Steps to Adjust:
Disable Power Saving Features:
- Go to Device Manager > Network adapters > Right-click your Ethernet adapter > Properties.
- Under the Power Management tab, uncheck the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
