Hi @Tom665,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like you're experiencing issues with your HP printer when trying to scan. To help you troubleshoot the problem, I suggest the following steps.
- Check Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer or network. If it's a wireless connection, make sure the Wi-Fi is stable.
- Restart Printer and Computer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Turn off both your printer and computer, wait for a few seconds, and then turn them back on.
- Update Drivers: Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. Visit the official HP website (support.hp.com) to download and install the latest drivers for your specific printer model.
- HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP provides a diagnostic tool called "HP Print and Scan Doctor" that can help identify and fix common printing and scanning problems. You can download it from the official HP website and run the tool to see if it detects any issues.
- Check for Software Conflicts: Ensure that there are no conflicting applications or antivirus software blocking the scanning process. Temporarily disable any security software and try scanning again.
- Reinstall HP Software: If the issue persists, try uninstalling the HP software completely and then reinstall it. Make sure to follow the installation instructions carefully.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
