15 Laptop PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am so frustrated. I bought a 15 Laptop PC (15-bs212wm) a few hours ago. I went through the set up created the profile, all is good. Until I tried to get online. The wifi icon is telling me there are no connections available, even though Cortana set it up. I spent 45 min just trying to get anything to work. I can"t even get to troubleshooting. Didn't even get the chance to register it. I have always owned HP's and this is the first time I have had an issue as soon as it comes out of the box. Please tell me someone  can help me out. So frustrated right now, to the point I want to return it  Sunday. I have been without a laptop since November.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

I would be glad to help you with the issue you are facing today. I understand the difficulty with the problem.

Let's perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data. Performing a power reset might fix conditions such as Windows not responding, Wireless connectivity, a blank display, software freezing, the keyboard stops responding, or other external devices locking up.

Next: Restore BIOS default settings.

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes? and then try connecting the computer on a network.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

@Echo_Lake Thank you for responding. I woke up yesterday and thought back on it all. I thought I would do the factory reset, what was the worst that could happen? I also logged in with my prevous laptops log in (email and password) and it worked. I haven't had any issues since. Not sure why it did what it did, but I am glad it works now. I will keep this for future reference however. I am also glad I tried again to get it to work. Thanks again for your help!
