Hello!

since several weeks now my laptop frequently has problems to connect to a Wifi network. It usually happens after a Sleep or Shutdown.

The networks are visible but the adapter is unable to connect to one of them.

After one or somtimes several reboots the the adapter is able to connect again.

I have another laptop, mobile phone and table which do not show this issues so I guess that the Wifi router is not the problem.

The network adpater is always available but unable to connect.

Below I have pasted the Windows Event Log entry which is entered when the problem appears.

What I have tried so far:

  • Disabling and reenabling network adapter -> problem again after enabling
  • executing Windows network troubleshooting wizard -> no change
  • according a hint from a similar issue in another thread: disabled network adapter option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" -> no change
  • Running HP PC Hardware Diagnostics -> all passed
  • Realtek Driver update to version 2024.10.228.7 -> no change
  • Replacing Wifi Hardware -> no change in behavior
  • update BIOS firmware with latest from HP website -> no change

What I have observed is that when the problem appears the Windows shutdown sequence takes much longer.

Unfortunately I am not sure when the problem appeared the first time and what I did right before that. I did not install any SW except maybe Windows updates for a much longer period.

Q: Do you have any idea what the problem might be or which diagnosis I can perform to find the root cause? I am thankful for every hint.
