Hi @Ryaner93
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I appreciate you taking the time to share your concern and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
I reviewed your post and I understand that google chrome is freezing.
I’d love to help!
I recommend you to uninstall google chrome and restart the computer. Then download and install it again and check if it works.
Here is how it is done.
- On your computer, close all Chrome windows and tabs.
- Click the Start menu >Settings.
- Click System.
- On the left, click Apps & features.
- Find and click Google Chrome.
- Click Uninstall.
- Confirm by clicking Uninstall.
- To delete your profile information, like bookmarks and history, check "Also delete your browsing data."
- Click Uninstall.
- Once the browser is uninstalled completely restart the computer.
- Then download and install google chrome again.
Let me know how it goes and you have a good day ahead.
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead.

Hi again
- I follow yourinstructions but chrome keeps freezing and everytime I try and wait for it to close or wait to find the error as to why it froze the loading keeps going on with no answer.
- Microsoft edge wont load pages when chrome is frozen and not responding too.The issue is becoming for frequent. Do you have any other suggestions?

It looks like you were interacting with @the_Fossette but he's out for the day
And I'll be glad to help you out.
The Riddle_Decipher is at your service.
I understand the issue is concerning the google chrome and I wanted to let you know that HP doesn't own google or chrome,
That said, did you try an alternate browser such as IE or Mozilla firefox to check if they work without issues? if not please do.
For issues related to Chrome alone: Click here to visit the Google (I've taken the liberty of finding a solution for you),
However, if the issue persists, you can give them a call or use the above link to your advantage.
The Microsoft edge doesn't work when google is in a crashed status, this is being the Google Chrome is taking up all the CPU usage while it's trying to recover from the crash,
Use the Edge as a stand alone without opening the Chrome and let me know how that works.
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,
Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum. Have a great day!

You've done a remarkable job performing the steps suggested earlier, great work 🙂
And don't worry, as we should be able to fix this up with a few more steps and I'll be with you until we ensure this issue is fixed.
If other browsers are also non-responsive and crashing, it's may not be an internet issue but something to do with either your windows or the hardware,
I recommend you run an extensive system test on your computer using the hardware diagnostics tool: Click here for details.
Please Contact HP phone support to set up a hardware service with the failure ID if the test fails,
However, if the tests pass and I hope it does, I will need to know if any recent update was installed or interrupted during installation that may have caused this issue?
Please let me know about the results and the outcome of the above-suggested steps.

Hi again,
I ran the system quick test and it passed. I have looked at recently installed software in the Update history. and the image shows what was recently installed and my update history is up to date and to my knowlege no updates were interuptted . After i ran the test I tried chrome again and it did download this time and has run ok for the last hour i have had it back although I am still worried the same will happen. Do you have any other suggestions?

Thank you for replying,
I'm glad the tests have passed,
That said, the only other step you could do is reinstall the windows OS if the issue persists,
Keep me posted for further assistance,

I think I may have solved this issue. I also have a new 15.6 inch spectre x360. Chrome was freezing, but would come back if I waited about 10 or 15 seconds. Computer was unusable during this freeze. Edge was fine.
Go to settings/advanced settings in Chrome. Disable "Use harware ecceleration when available". I also disabled "Continue running background apps when chrome is closed".
I think the Nvidia card is having issues with Chrome. Seems to be fast now. But I'll report back if something changes.
