HP 410 wireless mouse appears to be a lemon... People are complaining about having to constantly reconnect it...it's a major pain. Why isn't there a better answer about this ongoing issue?

Hi @BigAl17,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's unfortunate to hear that users are experiencing connectivity issues with the HP 410 wireless mouse. Wireless peripherals, including mice, can sometimes face connectivity problems due to various reasons such as interference, driver issues, or hardware malfunctions.
Here are some potential reasons why this issue might persist.
- Interference: Wireless mice operate on radio frequencies, and interference from other devices or electronic equipment in the vicinity can disrupt the connection. Moving the mouse and receiver to a different location can sometimes alleviate this issue.
- Driver or Software Problems: Outdated or corrupt drivers can lead to connectivity issues. Ensure that the mouse's drivers are up to date-and compatible with your operating system.
- Battery Life: If the mouse's battery is running low, it may intermittently lose connection. Try replacing the batteries or recharging if it's a rechargeable mouse.
- Hardware Malfunction: Sometimes, the mouse itself may have a defect that causes it to disconnect frequently.
- Signal Range: Ensure that the mouse and receiver are within the specified range for optimal performance. Moving too far away from the receiver can cause connection issues.
- Firmware Updates: Check if there are any firmware updates available for the mouse. Sometimes, HP releases updates to address connectivity issues and improve performance.
- USB Port Issues: Occasionally, USB ports can malfunction, causing connectivity problems with peripherals. Try using a different USB port or connecting the receiver through a USB hub.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I have two of these, manufactured only months apart. The older of the two connects (December 2022) with any computer (Windows 10 or 11) once it has been paired with the computer. The newer one (March 2023) won't automatically reconnect with any computer once paired. I have found that I don't have to have the computer(s) forget the mouse. On my Windows 11 computer, I have set everything I can think of so the two can discover each other under the advanced tab on Bluetooth settings. The LED on top of the mouse blinks like it's trying to connect but does not connect.
It shows as "Not Connected"
If I go to Bluetooth settings and click on "Add Device" and the once the popup box appears, click on Bluetooth, the mouse will reconnect. But it is a manual reconnect. Note that I have the latest Bluetooth drivers from Intel (published April 9, 2024).
This indicates that it's a hardware issue if one connects and the other does not.
