HP EliteBook 820 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a HP EliteBook 820 G3 with Intel 8260NGW WiFI and BT combo and with Windows 10 on it, BT is not present in Device manager. I thought that the card is faulty so I bought a brand new Intel AX200NGW combo and install it.

Result is the same, BT not present in Device Manager 😞

I mention that in BIOS I don't have BT option (to enable or disable it) and I have the latest version of BIOS - could this be somehow blocked by HP on motherboard or somenthing like that?

Hi:

Do you know if the notebook ever had W7 installed on it at one time?

Some models came with W10 Pro with downgrade rights to W7 Pro.

If it did, it is possible that the BT was turned off with the HP connection manager software that only worked on W7.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try and turn on the Bluetooth radio in Ubuntu.

Make an Ubuntu USB installer.

Get Ubuntu | Download | Ubuntu

Here's a tutorial on how to make a bootable Ubuntu installation flash drive.

Create a bootable USB stick with Rufus on Windows | Ubuntu

Boot from the Ubuntu installer.

Select the option to 'Try Ubuntu without installing.'

See if you can turn on the BT in Ubuntu.

If you can, turn it on, exit Ubuntu, shut down the notebook, remove the installer, restart the notebook and you should now have Bluetooth

If you cannot turn on Bluetooth in Ubuntu, unfortunately I don't know what the problem could be.
