Hey everyone, so I just went on vacation with my laptop working perfectly fine however now that I’m back home my laptop is showing that my WiFi connection is limited and will not connect to the internet. I have tried everything that I can find online and even did a recovery to factory settings on my laptop but am still getting the same thing. My WiFi is showing a 4 bars but still will not connect to the internet. For some reason it will not verify and get an IP address. I’ve tried to contact support but because my warranty is expired they are not any help. Any suggestions?

@boostoast Here's a list of steps that you need to perform, the same should help resolve the issue once and for all, and then we can boost & toast 😉

  • At the bottom left, right click on the start button and select Network Connections.
  • Right click your Wireless Adapter and select properties.
  • Click on where it says Internet Protocol Version 4 and click properties.
  • Make sure Obtain IP address and Obtain DNS Server automatically is checked. If it's not do it. If it is and you are still having issues, click the wireless icon at the bottom right hand side of the screen, click your wireless network name and select disconnect. Reset your modem and wireless router and reconnect.

If the issue persists, perhaps, you could tell me if you've contacted your ISP about the same, and if you have, what did they do or tell you about it.

I tried the steps suggested and the obtain IP address and obtain DNS server were already checked. I unplugged and reset my modem and I still have the limited connection on my WiFi and it still can not connect to the internet. I even tried forgetting the connection and reconnecting to the WiFi and still have the same issue.

@boostoast And what about contacting the ISP? As requested earlier, did you do that as well? if not, please do and get back to us with the results.
