My laptop has been going in and out of this state where it fully doesn’t recognize any internet connections, it doesn’t show my own internet, my hotspot, my neighbors internet, all it says is no networks available. The first time it happened it magically resolved itself, but it’s happening again. Both my phone and FireTV are connected to my internet no issue, so I think it has to be an issue with my laptop. I’ve tried the following multiple times;

-Restart laptop

-Restart router

-Cleared cache

-Check network card (no issues detected)

-Turned airplane mode on and off

I’m genuinely at a loss at what else I can do other than bring it in to a computer tech to get looked at, but before I spend that big amount of money I wanted to check to see if anyone else has any suggestions.

Hi @JennaMckB1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already taken several good steps to troubleshoot the issue with your HP Envy laptop not recognizing any internet connections. Here are a few more suggestions that might help resolve the problem before you consider taking it to a tech:

Update Wireless Network Drivers:

  • Sometimes, the issue could be due to outdated or corrupted drivers. Go to the Device Manager (you can search for it in the Windows search bar), find your network adapters, right-click on the wireless adapter, and select "Update driver". Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software" and follow the prompts.

Reset Network Settings:

  • You can reset all network settings to default, which might fix any incorrect settings. To do this, go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status. Scroll down and click on "Network reset". This will reinstall your network adapters and set other networking components back to their original settings. Be aware that you’ll need to reconnect to your wireless networks afterward.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Sometimes, a pending update can cause conflicts with hardware like your network adapter. Go to Settings > Update & Security and check for updates. Install any available updates and restart your laptop.

Disable and Re-enable the Network Adapter:

  • In Device Manager, under Network adapters, right-click your wireless network adapter and choose "Disable device". Wait a few seconds, then right-click again and choose "Enable device". This can sometimes refresh the adapter and resolve connectivity issues.

Check Power Management Settings:

  • Go to Device Manager, right-click on your wireless adapter under Network adapters, and go to Properties. Under the Power Management tab, make sure that "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked. This prevents the system from turning off the adapter when it goes into a power-saving mode.

Use Network Troubleshooter:

  • Windows has a built-in troubleshooter that can find and fix issues with connecting to the internet. You can run this by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Internet Connections, and then follow the prompts.

System Restore:

  • If the issue started recently, you could try performing a system restore to roll back your laptop settings to a point in time when the internet was working properly. Search for "Create a restore point" in the Windows search bar, open it, and go to the System Restore button to see if there's a suitable restore point.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
