Hello there,
I've bough the "HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k111nr" in Germany (2nd hand - ebay). The problem is that i can't use the WWAN chip - Windows says "Operator gesperrt" ~ "Operator blocked" -> according to Windows the reason is simlock.
I've wasted hours @ google to find a way unlocking this thing or finding the provider of the device. Can't contact the seller since he doesn't reply.
What now? =/
The hs3114 was the only reason i bought this thing.... =/

ive already opened a ticket on myHPSupport ( mycrm.support.hp.com ) - but i now struggle to login.. "TARGET Not Found" - when i try to login with my ID + PW without checking the "remember on this computer" box. If i check this box i get a cookie and from then it will always redirect me to the page to register an account. (ofc my email is already registrated) from then i cant get to the login in fields where i put my ID+PW in without deleting the received cookie first.
and to your "solution" - ive already did this... its how i ended up here because i dont think the customer should have to pay something in addition for his product to work properly.
its not like this is an unique laptop built only once... this problem has to exist for other people too.. so a solution for these customers should be available without paying for phone support... and thats why i asked here. to get information where to find this solution. For example the provider which could have supplied these laptops and therefor simlocked the chip - i dont think any retailer could have simlocked the WWAN chip + there must be information about it being AT&T vodafone or whatever.

Hi @Namenlos,
I would like to inform you that the WWAN is not carrier locked and can be used with many 3G ISPs. If your network is not listed when you insert the Sim card there is an option to create a new profile for the network and connect to it.
For a variety of reasons, not related to the cards themselves, not all 3G ISPs support BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) connection to their 3G services, so you still may not be able to use it with any 3G ISP.
Please refer to the below article for more information on connecting to a 3G WWAN.
https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01763189
NOTE: If the computer was sold in the US then usually the carrier is T-Mobile.
I recommend you contact your service provider and check once.
Hope that answers your question.

Hello. Since then I've asked windows support what "Operator gesperrt" in detail means. - Told me to ask my local provider about BYOD too. Contacted my local provider to check the BYOD thing even though i thought this was not the problem. - Not a problem. I've tried to find out if the carrier was t-mobile (US) with their IMEI check ( https://www.t-mobile.com/verifyIMEI.aspx ) - "We do not recognize the IMEI number you entered.
" and now im back here again.
what i havent yet tried is using windows 7 and the hp manager since i want it to work on win 10 and win 7 is not the real solution. nevetheless im gonna try it on windows 7 soon but i assume thats going to fail.
What options are there left? I'm definitely not gonna call the US Support from germany 😄

There is at least one web site offering an inexpensive remote unlock for that card if it is indeed locked - I cannot attest to the quality of their services so I won't post a link. The financial risk is low (€7 on the site I was looking at) and you can always reformat and reinstall the system afterwards if you're worried about malware.
Failing that, there's quite a few of these cards available on eBay - you could always change the card for one that is unlocked. As they're 2G/3G cards with no LTE support, they're not that valuable any more.
