I am facing an issue with my Bluetooth headphones and speakers where the audio starts distorting after some time.
Here’s what I have already tried:
Installed all available drivers shown in the Device Manager (see attached screenshot). Updated Windows to the latest version.
Installed the official Bluetooth driver from the HP website. Tried different Bluetooth headphones and speakers, but the issue persists.
Despite all these attempts, the problem remains unresolved.
The distortion happens after some time of use, making it frustrating. I am looking for a real solution and not generic responses like restarting my PC or changing headphones, as I have already ruled out hardware issues.

Hi @hitva123,
Thank you for the response.
- If none of the above steps work, try using an external Bluetooth adapter (USB Bluetooth dongle).
- If the issue is resolved with the external adapter, your laptop’s built-in Bluetooth module might be faulty.
Let me know how it goes.
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?"—your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptops Bluetooth connectivity!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand the frustration, especially when the issue still persists after trying to troubleshoot the issue.

- Under Output, select your Bluetooth headphones/speakers.
- Click Device Properties → Additional Device Properties.
- In the Enhancements tab, check Disable all enhancements.
Change Bluetooth Codec for Better Audio Quality
- Open Device Manager (Win + X → Device Manager).
- Expand Bluetooth, right-click your Bluetooth audio device → Properties.
- Go to Advanced tab → Change Default Format to a higher bitrate (e.g., 16-bit, 44.1 kHz).
- Click OK and restart Bluetooth.
Adjust Bluetooth Power Management
- In Device Manager, expand Bluetooth.
- Find Intel Wireless Bluetooth (or the Bluetooth chipset name).
- Right-click → Properties → Power Management.
- Uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
Update Bluetooth Drivers Manually (Intel Chipset Fix)
If your laptop has an Intel Bluetooth chipset, try manually updating drivers:
- Download and install the latest Intel Bluetooth driver from the Intel website.
Check for Interference
- Ensure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are not using the same frequency (2.4 GHz).
- If your router has 5 GHz Wi-Fi, switch to it and check if the issue improves.
Try these steps and let me know if the distortion persists! 🚀

Hi @hitva123
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having trouble finding the correct audio drivers for your laptop, especially given that you're using Realtek drivers, and you couldn't locate certain options like the "Advanced" tab or "Audio Enhancements."
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to find and download the correct drivers from HP’s website:
Visit the HP Support Website:
- Go to HP's driver download page.
Identify Your Laptop Model:
- You will need to know your exact laptop model to download the correct drivers. If you don’t know the model, here’s how to find it:
- Look at the bottom of your laptop for a sticker or label that has your model number.
- You can also find it by typing msinfo32 in the Windows search bar (press Enter) and checking the "System Model" under "System Summary."
Enter Your Model in the Search Bar:
- On the HP support page, type your model number into the search bar (for example, "HP Pavilion 15" or whatever your model is).
Select Your Operating System:
- Make sure you choose the correct operating system (like Windows 10 or Windows 11) to ensure you're downloading the right drivers.
Find Audio Drivers:
- Once you've selected your laptop and OS, scroll through the list of drivers and look for "Audio" or "Sound" drivers. These should be under a category like "Driver - Audio."
Download and Install the Audio Driver:
- Download the latest Realtek driver or any specific audio driver listed. Once downloaded, run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
Restart Your Computer:
- After installation, restart your laptop to ensure the new drivers are applied correctly.
If You Still Have Issues:
Check Device Manager: Go to Device Manager (right-click Start > Device Manager) and expand the “Sound, video and game controllers” section. If you see any yellow exclamation marks next to your audio device, right-click and select "Update driver" or "Uninstall device" and restart your laptop.
I hope this helps.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

Hi @Sneha_01,
I appreciate your response, but I have already tried everything you mentioned, and the issue persists. It's really frustrating because nothing seems to work.
Here’s what I have done so far:
- Downloaded and installed the latest drivers from HP's website using the automatic detection tool.
- Installed all recommended drivers from HP’s list.
- Checked for updates via HP and Windows Update.
- Updated the drivers manually through Device Manager.
- Adjusted headphone properties in Advanced Sound Settings.
- Followed the troubleshooting steps in these HP community posts:
Despite all of this, my headphones and speakers connect properly but start distorting after a few minutes. This issue is making it really difficult to use my laptop normally.
I need a real solution to fix this problem. Please advise.
Thanks.
