I have an HP17-cn0xxx and have had it for about 2 years. In recent weeks I have had major WIFI problems mostly with internet speed. I have already checked for Viruses and DNS settings. It can't be an ISP issue since my phone and tablet get double the HPs internet speed. Just wondering if anyone else had a similar problem and maybe solved it.

@jimmy04601, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP Laptop WiFi issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It sounds like your HP laptop's WiFi performance has degraded over time, which could be due to a variety of reasons. Here are a few troubleshooting steps to help improve your WiFi speed:
Update WiFi Drivers
- Go to Device Manager → Network Adapters → Right-click on your WiFi adapter (likely "Realtek" or "Intel") → Update driver.
- If that doesn’t help, visit HP’s official website to download and install the latest WiFi driver for your model.
Forget and Reconnect to the Network
- Click on the WiFi icon → Network & Internet settings → Manage known networks → Select your WiFi and click Forget.
- Restart your laptop and reconnect by entering the password.
Check Power Management Settings
- Go to Device Manager → Network Adapters → Right-click on your WiFi adapter → Properties.
- Under the Power Management tab, uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power."
- Go to Control Panel → Power Options → Change your power plan to High Performance.
Change WiFi Channel and Band
- If your router supports 5GHz, switch to that band for better speed.
- Log into your router's admin panel (usually via 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) and change the WiFi channel to a less congested one.
Run HP Network Troubleshooter
- Type HP Support Assistant in the Windows search bar → Open it → Go to Fixes & Diagnostics → Run Network and Internet Troubleshooter.
I hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
