I would like to know if I can opt for an upgrade of the product or should I proceed with its return?  How uncomfortable it is to have to sacrifice a USB port for an external adapter that gives me this function.

Hi:

If your notebook has the Realtek RTL8723DE wifi adapter, I would return it if you aren't willing to take the notebook apart yourself, and upgrade the wifi adapter.

Is upgrading the adapter very difficult? Can you describe what should I do for this process?

On today's notebook's it is not a very easy job because there are no access covers to get to parts like the memory, hard drive and wifi card, like in days gone by.

Since your notebook only has one antenna wire connected to the Realtek card in there now, there is only one wifi card you can upgrade to, and that is this one.

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)  HP part # L17365-005.

The only place I have been able to find this model is on eBay.

The card has the same throughput as the RTL8723DE on the 2.4 GHz wifi band, but on the 5.0 GHz wifi band with an AC router, it has a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS.

Below is the link to the service manual which will provide the procedure to remove and replace the wifi adapter.
