Looking for a wireless module upgrade for the HP Notebook 17-x173dx that supports 5G

Hi:

 

Your notebook only has one antenna cable connected to the wifi adapter in there now.

 

There is only one dual band AC wifi/bluetooth card that I know of that works with one antenna, and that is this one...

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)
HP Part # L17365-005.

The card has been on backorder from HP for months now.

You can find them on eBay by searching by the HP part number.

That card will have a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS on the 5.0 Ghz AC band, provided there is an excellent signal.
