I have a HP Notebook x2 - 10-p018wm for my 11 year old daughter that lost it's wifi connection a couple of days ago. I have investigated as best as I could but cannot seem to identify the issue. The Windows 10 WiFi panel does not show any wireless networks available.
I have tried to install the WLAN driver from here, but that did not work.
Airplane mode is NOT on.
This machine does not have an ethernet port on it.
In Device Manager, the wifi adapter was listed under network adapter. I deleted it in hopes that Windows 10 would re-detect and re-install the device, but now Windows does not detect a wireless adapter. Is it possible that the wireless adapter has failed?
Any assistance is much appreciated!

Hi:
It appears the HP support site is back up and running again.
Below is the link to the service manual.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05227773
There is no procedure to remove the wifi card.
There is a procedure to remove the wifi card's antenna, but all you need to do is disconnect it from the terminal on the wifi card, and replace the wifi card.
I guess you will have to get the part number off the wifi card, and order another one.
Hopefully, card is removable. The procedure references removing the antenna from the system board, which indicates to me that the entire motherboard would have to be replaced to fix the wifi.
If it is removable, you will probably be able to find one on eBay.
You can see the illustration of where the wifi card is located in chapter 5, on page 27.

Hi:
If you have restarted the PC, and the wifi adapter still is not listed in the device manager under the Network Adapters device manager category, or listed in the device manager under an Other Devices category (meaning it needs the driver), then the wifi adapter has most likely failed, and needs to be replaced.
There is one other thing you can try.
Go to the device manager and at the top, click on the View tab and then select the Show hidden devices.
Then if you see the wifi adapter as a hidden device, right click on it, select Uninstall, and check the uninstall driver box.
Then restart the PC and see if it shows up again in working order.
If not, you can pretty much assume that the wifi card is no good.

You're very welcome.
If you reinstalled W10 and the wifi card still wasn't present, then it has indeed failed.
The HP support site is down, so I am not able to provide you with the link to the service manual to see how easy it would be to replace the wifi card, or what model you need.

Thank you for providing me with that manual. I was able to take the PC apart and identify the wireless antenna. The model number is DQ6415G1900. There are plenty on eBay for ~$10. By chance, I removed both antenna (one was really loose) and reconnected them, booted the machine back up and wifi is back. It appears that one of the cables was loose. Hopefully this fixes the issue and gets my daughter through the end of the school year! Thank you for assisting!
