Hey guys! I have laptop. The wifi is always quite low on it because it has a 2.4GHz adapter installed. I want to upgrade the wifi adapter card inside to a 5GHz wifi card
What adapter is compatible to safely install to get 5GHz wifi for my model? Help!

Any suggestions on what will work or where to go to find out would be tremendously appreciated

Hi, @alezzy

Your notebook does not have any BIOS whitelist.

If your notebook currently has two antenna cables connected to the wifi adapter in there now, you can upgrade to this internal dual band AC wifi adapter.

Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 HP Part # 710661-001

The card is readily available on eBay or Amazon, and doesn't cost very much at all.

Do your search by the HP part number, not by the model number of the wireless card.

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

The wifi card R & R procedure can be found in chapter 5.

Your machine was built around 2013/2014, due to the whitelist, the chance to upgrade to new AC wifi card is very slim to none. Option:

Hi:

Yes you can.

Before you install the Intel wifi adapter, go to the device manager, click to expand the Network Adapters device manager category, right click on the Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter, select Uninstall and also check the Uninstall driver box.

Shut down, unplug the PC, remove the battery and install the Intel card.

W10 should automatically install the drivers for you but, here are the links to them.

You can save them now and run the files after you get the Intel card.

Please post back and let us know how the wifi card upgrade went.

Hi Paul_Tikkanen
Thank you so much for your help
The Intel card works wonderfully. The card works directly and automatically after installation
Wifi and Bluetooth works perfectly. The Wi-Fi connection is much better and faster than the cable
Thank you again for your help
