HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-ec2000 (2P6B5AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi! I have HP Pavilion 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop PC 15-ec2000 (2P6B5AV) and i am satisfied by them! Originally it was equipped with Wi-Fi  Realtek RTL8852AE with 80 MHz bandwith. I'd replaced it on Intel AX200. The new on Wi-Fi works well and displays good enough speed. But last time I need WiFi 6E so I decided to replace Intel AX200 on Intel AX210.

I'd purchased such item and installed it but Intel AX210 wouldn't work. Laptop starts up but wireless adapter doesn't display in the Device manager. Wi-Fi module is not broken, it works well on HP ProBook 440 G6. Is anybody able to aid me?

Hi:

No one has been able to get the AX210 to work in any HP notebook with an AMD processor/chipset.

There are many posts (at least half a dozen) on this forum referencing that problem.

Be happy with the AX200, or you can try the Mediatek Wi-Fi 6E card that is being offered in many HP notebooks nowadays.

Hi, many thanks for your reply! Actually, I tried install MediaTek MT7922A (p/n M90511-005), but it didn't work. The symptoms was the same: laptop started up, but wireless adapter didn't display in the Device manager. What I did wrong?

You're very welcome.

I'm surprised that the Mediatek card didn't work either.

Apparently, the BIOS is blocking various wifi cards from working, and I don't know of anything that you would be able to do to get a wifi 6E card to work.

Hmm, I'm surprised to hear about blocking particular devices on the BIOS level. My Asus MiniPC PN50 based on Amd Ryzen 3 4300u accepts all  wireless adapters with no issues.

What do you think, will the Qualcomm QCNFA765 work on HP laptop?

HP Recommended

Personally, I don't think any other card is going to work.

Today I had very interesting experience. I nstalled MediaTek MT7922 (RZ616) in my laptop in hibernation mode. After wake up I saw network adapter in the Device manager and even installed drivers. But after reboot wireless adapter disappeared...

Does it mean bios incompatibility?

Yes, probably.

Today I've tried to install in my HP Pavilion Gaming 15 Wi-Fi module based on Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 (HP P/N: M61212-001). This module works in HP EliteBook 865 G9  and HP EliteBook 845 G9, but unfortunately doesn't start in my laptop.

So, it was last chance and one available option for me is Intel AX200. Probably, I must forget about Wi-Fi 6E...

PS And of course Qualcomm FastConnect 6900 works fine on my ASUS MiniPC PN 50 based on Ryzen 3 4300U 🙂
